When Sophia Loren sang “Tu vuo fa L´Americano” in the film “It Happened in Naples”

Sophia Loren starred in the film “It Started in Naples"(It happened in Naples) released in 1960. The film was directed by Melville Shavelson and featured Sophia Loren next to Clark Gable. The plot of the film takes place in Naples and follows the adventures of an American lawyer, played by Clark Gable, who goes to Naples to settle the affairs of his deceased brother. Sophia Loren plays the role of a Neapolitan woman involved in the story.

In the movie, Sophia Loren sings a version of “Tu Vuo' Fa' L'Americano“, a famous Neapolitan song written by Renato Carosone et Nicola Salerno. This scene is memorable, and although Sophia Loren performed the song in the film, it is important to note that this was not an official musical release of Sophia Loren as a singer. The performance was related to his role in the film.
