The song “That (is really you)” by the band Téléphone is a classic of French rock. Released in June 1982, it appears on their fourth studio album, Hard LimitJean-Louis Aubert was inspired by the song “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” The Rolling Stones collaborated on this track, but with a more punk feel. Recording took place in Toronto, Canada, under the direction of producer Bob Ezrin, known for his work with Pink Floyd and Alice Cooper. The track was a huge success, selling over 500 copies and becoming an anthem for the band's fans.
To promote the song, the band and their record label decided to create a crazy music video. They therefore called on British punk director, Julien TempleThe idea: to film a surreal costume party made up of lookalikes of famous personalities of the time.
