“La norme,” Amel Bent’s new track. A gem dedicated to her children. A must-listen!

“I was afraid of having a boy, and didn't know how to love him.”, she sings in the song where she wonders if she doesn't have it “brought into the world” so that he is not in “the norm” and cultivates its difference.

Amel Bent came to sing her new song La Norme on the set of C l'hebdo this Saturday, March 22 on France 5. A song in which the singer explains that she was afraid of being the mother of a little boy.

When I see you, I see myself
The same pace, the same step
You have my teeth, you have my fingers
I would have liked to stop there
You will never be like the others
At least others will tell you so.
Having trouble keeping friends
Many of them will leave
You'll go too fast, you'll go too far
You'll be too bad, you'll be too good
You will have tantrums, you will make scenes
You will be hard on yourself

Why do we have to look alike?
Even the anxieties that devour me
As if I had brought you into the world
But I hadn't brought you up to standard
It will take you a long time to understand
This anxiety that haunts you
You're not weird, my daughter.
You're like your mother
You are different

When I see you, I see myself
Same marbles, same voice
You have my laughter, you have my joy
If I could have stopped there
From the playground
Up to the magazine pages
You will feel the pressure
Tears rise in the cabin
I could tell you that you are beautiful
Even if you don't believe me
You will see the end of the tunnel
I went through that.

Why do we have to look alike?
Even the roundness of my shapes
As if I had brought you into the world
But I hadn't brought you up to standard
It will take time to love yourself
And to understand why you eat
Even if you're round, my girl
You're like your mother
You are different

I was afraid of having a boy
And not knowing how to love him
To miss his education
And then one day you were born
In you I could not see
Those who have hurt me for a long time
Abandoned in the dark
It's not your role to fix me.
But when I see you I see myself
Even if you look like dad
And to think that one day you will grow up
I will look down on you

Why do I have to feel
The fear that you resemble these men
As if I had brought you into the world
So that you are not in the norm
I will take the time to tell you
How important love is
So that you are good my son
And like mom, never be afraid
To be different
