A song, a character
Ziggy Stardust is a fictional character, icon of Glam Rock, created by David Bowie in 1972 on the occasion of his album “The Rise an Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spidersfrom Mars”. This character will stick to his skin all his life.

Bowie said that Ziggy Stardust was essentially inspired by Vince Taylor. Its name comes from the Legendary Stardust Cowboy, a psychobilly singer from the same label as Bowie (Mercury).
The biopic “Stardust” directed by Gabriel Range and performed by Johnny Flinn, Jena Malone and Marc Maron is due out in theaters in 2020.
