Born Philippe Baranes February 2, 1957 in Bône, Algeria, Phil Barney took up the violin at the age of eight.
As an adult, from meeting to meeting, he meets Marvin Gaye who asks him to produce the songs he is recording. He recorded “Un enfant de toi” in 1986 which became a big hit (by far his biggest).
In 2014, Phil Barney joined other 80s stars for the successful “Stars 80” tours.
This rap lover, which he helped to popularize in France, has not yet joined the circle of performers of this style. But he continues to write and compose for other singers.
