Jean-Jacques Goldman on vacation in Brittany. His Airbnb host Cathleen posted a photo with her landlord and detailed “her best encounter of the summer”:
“This Tuesday, July 23, 2024, in Scaër, I was preparing my apartment to welcome vacationers. That day, I was traveling, and I left the keys in the key box. A couple was on their way for a bike ride on the greenway and had chosen to stay at my place.
When I returned the next day, I went up the stairs, eager to meet my new hosts. As I entered the apartment, I found them both. They greeted me with warm smiles.
I introduced myself and the conversation quickly began. They were delighted with their stay in my apartment and enjoyed eating from the dishes I make. They shared their impressions of the region and their passion for their cycling holiday.
I felt comfortable talking with them, appreciating their simplicity and good humor. We talked about the beauty of the Breton landscapes. For at least ten minutes, I let myself be carried away by the exchange, captivated by their enthusiasm.
However, as the conversation progressed, a detail struck me. His words resonated in a familiar way, and I began to make the connection. The voice, the charisma, the humility… It was then that the revelation struck me like a flash: I was talking to Jean-Jacques Goldman, the greatest living artist of French song!
I paused for a moment, surprised, but the conviviality of the moment made me laugh. “Wait a second, are you Jean-Jacques Goldman?” I asked, an amused smile on my lips. He laughed, nodding.
From that point on, the dynamics changed slightly, but not the warm atmosphere.
My heart was pounding.
We continued to chat, but with a new lightness, as if we had become friends for a long time. I realized that beyond his celebrity, he was first and foremost a man passionate about life.
This meeting, although fortuitous, was a precious gift.
They thanked me warmly, and Nathalie, his wife, took a photo of Jean Jacques and me. A memory that I will cherish forever.”
