“Jane Birkin By Friends” The artists paid tribute to Jane Birkin, who died a year ago.

Around twenty artists paid tribute to the Anglo-French singer with a concert entitled Jane Birkin by Friends, broadcast on Wednesday July 17, 2024 on Canal+. Around twenty artists performed 23 pieces on the Olympia stage. Among the strong and moving moments of this evening, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Lou Doillon took up with emotion and complicity What in duet.

One year ago, July 16, 2023, Jane Birkin died at his home in Paris at the age of 76 after a long battle with illness. The singer was to perform at theOlympia in March 2023 as part of the tour for his latest album Oh ! Sorry, you were sleeping... but his state of health will prevent him from doing so. By mutual agreement, his relatives and his artist friends have decided to keep the date of February 4, 2024 (planned by Jane Birkin for his return to the stage) to pay him a very nice tribute. The concert, staged by Etienne Daho, was broadcast on July 17 on Canal+. In an intimate atmosphere, the artists sang 23 pieces on the Olympia stage “with the same musicians, the same technicians, the same list of songs, in the same order” than what was planned for Jane Birkin, as introduced Ivan Attal at the start of the concert. Marion Cotillard, Miossec, Mickey 3D, Jarvis Cocker, Arthur H, Keren Ann, Carla Bruni, Sandrine Kiberlain, Thomas Dutronc, Vanessa Paradis, Beth Gibbons, Fanny Ardant, Dominique A, Matthieu Chedid, Eddy de Pretto, or Abd al malik were there to perform the titles of Jane Birkin et Serge Gainsbourg
