IsAbelle Geffroy (her real name) was born on May 1, 1980 in Chambray-lès-Tours. She studies at the conservatory of Tours until the age of eleven, learning mainly music theory, violin, piano, guitar and choral singing. Zaz debuted as a singer in the blues group Fifty Fingers. In 2006, she got a job in a Parisian cabaret as a singer for five hours a day, without a microphone. She stayed there for a year and a half. In January 2009, Zaz won the final of the third edition of the “Le Tremplin Génération” competition, which allowed him to record his first album. The first single is I want to, whose text vilifies the consumer society; this one is chosen as the summer hit by TF1 who broadcast the clip during the summer of 2010. She won the Victoire de la Musique for song of the year and sees his career grow. Since then, Zaz has become one of the best-known French singers in the world, especially in where she sings regularly.
