Michel fugain is born at Grenoble on May 12, 1942. Son of a doctor, Michel Fugain abandoned his medical studies to become a filmmaker. From 1963, he became the assistant director of well-known filmmakers such as Yves robert ou Jean Delannoy. He takes drama lessons and meets Michel Sardou for whom he wrote his first songs. Michel fugain is divorced from Stéphanie Fugain of whom he has three children; the actress Marie Fugain (born in 1973), Laurette (born in 1979), and Alexis (born in 1993). In 2002, their daughter Laurette died of leukemia at the age of 23.
