Isabelle Morizet (her real name) was born on July 19, 1955 in Saint-Germain-en-Laye (Yvelines). She started out in music by taking drum lessons and obtained a first prize at the conservatory. Under the direction of one of her uncles who is a great jazz drummer and with musicians, she recorded a demo on jazz tunes. His first 45 rpm “Keep me with you” was released in 1975 under the name Carene Cheryl. In 1978 and 1979, the titles Sing to me mama et Show me you're man enough are great successes. In 1981, The new romantics, adaptation by Didier Barbelivien of the tube of Riches and Poors Sarà perchè ti amo is a new success. After some failures at the end of the 80's, Karen Cheryl decides to put aside her singing career and devote herself to hosting television shows, then radio shows and playing in sitcoms. In the 1980s, she was in a relationship with the lawyer Eric Tubiana. Then she has a son, Oscar, with the designer Jean Claude Götting. In 2002, she married Jérôme Bellay, then director of the Europe 1 radio station.
