Eddy Mitchell does not hide it, he “often thinks about death at night“. According to his statements to JDD, he has already planned his funeral. They will take place “at the Saint-Tropez marine cemetery, in a small group“. The national funeral, very little for him… “I hope I don't bother anyone“, he admitted. He does not want to release an album or unreleased title which would be released posthumously:
As for posterity, there are no archives, I keep nothing of my drafts. It was all published in my lifetime and I'm amazed it lasted this long. Because, at the start, it must be said: no one believed it".
At 18 years, Eddy Mitchell married Françoise Lavit, with whom he had two children: Eddy, born in 1962 and Marilyn, born in 1965. After eighteen years of marriage, in 1979, the couple decided to divorce. The following year, the singer married Muriel Bailleul, with whom he had a daughter, pamela, born in 1982, of which Johnny Hallyday was also the godfather. The discreet couple lives between Paris and Saint-Tropez where they own a house. In 2015, the singer confided to Le Parisien:
As time goes by, I spend more time here, almost half the year. Since I discovered it at 17, I have loved Saint-Tropez. Thirty-five years ago, I was lucky enough to be able to buy this pretty house in the middle of the woods thanks to my neighbor. My children enjoy it, my friends too.
Happy in the South France, the couple purchased a concession in Saint Tropez where they will rest next toEddie Barclay. In 2022, during another interview, the singer declared:
Muriel is just meeting to take care of our dealership. I would rather be burned, but my children want to pay their respects at a grave. So, for that matter, it might as well be here.
