Singer Joël Prévost has died. He represented France in 1978 at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Il y aura toujours des violons”, which came third.

Singer Joël Prévost has died at the age of 74. Born in Narbonne, he grew up in Trith-Saint-Léger, near Valenciennes. He started out working at USINOR, while touring the region from dance to dance with his first group “Les élites”. The young Valenciennes native then tried his luck in Paris in the 60s. He was the one chosen in 1978 to represent France at Eurovision. He came 3rd with the song “There will always be violins,” composed by Didier Barbelivien. Joël Prévost, real name Jean-Luc Potaux, died in Paris in mid-November.
