Greek song icon Marinella suffered a stroke during a concert in an ancient theatre in Athens.

Aged 86, the singer Marinella, one of the stars of Greek song, collapsed on stage this Wednesday, September 25, while she was giving a concert at the foot of the Acropolis.

Marinella had represented Greece in the competition Eurovision song in 1974, won that year by the Swedish group ABBA with its title Waterloo.

Marinella suffered a "serious stroke" and is in intensive care, the hospital where she was admitted said in a statement released Thursday.
