Christophe
Italian origin, Christophe, from his real name Daniel Bevilacqua was born on October 13, 1945 in Juvisy-sur-orge. As a teenager, he learned guitar and harmonica and played in groups Danny Baby et hooligans. His first solo album Aline became a hit in the summer of 1965. It followed with several consecutive successes The puppets, I heard the sea, Excuse me, Professor. Consecration came a few years later with the album Les mots bleus, in 1974. After a calmer period, he returned to success in 1983 with Crazy success. But the artist doesn't really fit the 80s and Christophe decides to take a break from his career. He returned in 1996 with Bevilaqua, an album which marks a change of style and an asserted maturity.
He will release several more intimate and less popular albums Sif the earth tilted (2001) Love what we are (2008) Paradise found (2013). His latest opus will be a double album of duet covers. On March 26, 2020, Christophe was hospitalized. Suffering from a respiratory illness for several years, Christophe died at the age of 74 on April 16, 2020.
His private life is like his songs: in love, seductive and romantic. Christophe had a love affair with the singer Michèle Torr with whom he had a son, but the singer did not recognize him. Then he marries Véronique who gives him a daughter, Lucie. The couple separated in 2002.
His death, which occurred at the start of the pandemic, provoked an exceptional reaction among the French who seemed to adore Christophe… silently !
