Belgian actress Emilie Dequenne died on Sunday, March 16, at Gustave-Roussy Hospital in Villejuif, in the Val-de-Marne region. The 43-year-old actress had a career marked by five César nominations. She worked with the most prestigious directors, from André Téchiné to Claude Berri and Albert Dupontel, as well as major productions (The Pact of the WolvesGoodbye up there…). In 2024, she was so happy to return to the Cannes Film Festival…

The actress, who suffered from a rare adrenal gland cancer, died at the age of 43. "What a fierce struggle! And we don't get to choose...", the actress posted on Instagram on February 4, World Cancer Day. Her cancer was adrenocortical carcinoma, a malignant tumor of the adrenal gland, for which the prognosis is even worse the larger the tumor. Diagnosed in October 2023, she revealed that this extremely rare cancer affects only between 1 and 2 people per million each year.
